10月8日、Brett Kavanaugh 裁判官が、ようやく連邦最高裁判所判事に就任しました。トランプ大統領は就任式典で、カバノー氏とその家族が承認までの間「極めてひどい苦痛と苦悩に耐えなくてはならなかった」として同氏への謝罪を表明しました。

1 On behalf of our nation I want to apologize to Bret and the entire Cavanaugh family for the terrible pain and suffering you have been forced to endure.

2 Those who step forward to serve our country deserve a fair and dignified evaluation not a campaign of political and personal destruction based on lies and deception.

3 What happened to the Cavanaugh family violates every notion of fairness, decency and due process.

4 Our country, a man or a woman, must always be presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
