Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris gave a concession speech, saying that accepting results is the rule of democracy, and said that she would soon invite Republican candidate Donald Trump to the White House and cooperate with the transfer of power. It was a wonderful admission of defeat. We have extracted important expressions from her speech for your reference. It’s not a very long speech, so please listen to the end.
Earlier today I spoke with president-elect Trump and congratulated him on his victory. I also told him that we will help him and his team with their transition and that we will engage in a peaceful transfer of power. 本日、私はトランプ次期大統領と話をし、彼の勝利を祝福しました。また、私たちは彼と彼のチームの政権移行を支援し、平和的な権力移譲に取り組むとも伝えました。
A fundamental principle of American democracy is that when we lose an election, we accept the results. That Principle as much as any other distinguishes democracy from monarchy or tyranny and anyone who seeks the public trust must honor it. アメリカ民主主義の基本原則は、選挙で負けた場合は結果を受け入れることです。この原則は他の原則と同様に民主主義を君主制や専制政治と区別するものであり、国民の信頼を求める者は誰でもこれを尊重する必要があります。
At the same time in our nation we owe loyalty, not to a president or a party, but to the Conttitution of the United States and loyalty to our conscience and to our God. My allegiance to all three is why I am here to say while I concede this electionI I do not concede the fight that fueled this campaign.

On the morning of November 6th, Republican candidate former President Trump defeated Democratic candidate Kamala Harris and declared victory at a rally in southern Florida, declaring, “We will make America truly great again.” It seems that ”democracy cannot be ended by one dictator, nor can it be saved by one hero”. Some say that it was a battle of doubts about Trump’s character and questions about Harris’s ability.
We have compiled some important expressions so that you can speak confidently to your foreign friends and people around you. If you are confident in your English, please listen to President Trump’s confident voice live on YouTube above. See the joy of the many people who came to support him, including his wife Melania, Vice Presidential candidate Van Barnes, Elon Musk, and golfer Bryson DeChambeau. You will get a sense of realism that you cannot get from a Japanese variety show commentary.
◎我々は国境を修復し、この国の全てを修復する。かつてないほど素晴らしい国にする。We’re going to fix our borders, we’re going to fix everything about our country, and we’re going to make it better than it’s ever been.

What kind of world is the international society? It’s like a world that is the exact opposite of Japan. Anarchy, an anarchic world, that is the international community. We still don’t have a United Nations Fqorces, and we can’t capture rogue states and put them in prison. Invade other countries, mass murder, terrorism, assassination, poisoning, whatever they want! This is all done by the leaders of some countries elected by the people of each county. How should we teach our children and grandchildren about the current international situation?
What will happen if we remain defenseless in such anarchy? This is absolutely no good. If Japan were defenseless, it would not have been able to defend against the Mongol invasions of the Kamakura period, nor would it have survived the Nobunaga and Ieyasu era, Spain during the Age of Discovery, the chaos at the end of the Edo period, or even the Meiji government. Japan would have been colonized in an instant. The Japanese language and Japanese culture would have disappeared, and by now all Japanese people would be fluent in English!
Anyway, I think it’s really good and happy that Japan has been a country protected by the sea since ancient times. If Japan had a land connection with mainland China, it would have to build a wall similar to the border with Mexico. That’s right. The sea is Japan’s greatest ally and the cornerstone of its defense.
The world situation is becoming increasingly serious, with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the Palestine issue, the Taiwan crisis, and North Korea’s missiles. What should we do? If we don’t think about what we can do now, won’t the world and our planet be in danger? I would like to think together with you about what we should convey.
