The United States restated its unwavering support for Japan’s defense under the U.S.-Japan Treaty of Mutual Cooperation and Security, using its full range of capabilities, including nuclear. It also reaffirmed the fact that Article V of the Treaty applies to the Senkaku Islands.

3 日米両国は、普遍的価値及び共通の原則に基づき、引き続き連携していく。日米両国はまた、地域の平和及び安定を維持するための抑止の重要性も認識する。日米両国は、東シナ海におけるあらゆる一方的な現状変更の試みに反対する。We will continue to work with each other based on universal values and common principles. We also recognize the importance of deterrence to maintain peace and stability in the region. We oppose any unilateral attempts to change the status quo in the East China Sea.

4 日米両国は、台湾海峡の平和と安定の重要性を強調するとともに、両岸問題の平和的解決を促す。日米両国は、香港及び新疆ウイグル自治区における人権状況への深刻な懸念を共有する。We underscore the importance of peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait and encourage the peaceful resolution of cross-Strait issues. We share serious concerns regarding the human rights situations in Hong Kong and the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.
