① look : まずは look と see の違いを感じてください。次の例文で覚えましょう！

② look at : at がつくと視点が動きます。 Look at me when I’m talking to you. 私があなたに話しているときは私の顔を見てなさい。
look at : 他の意味もあります！「〇〇といえば」という感じです。 Look at Mrs. Kimura, smoking killed her. 木村夫人といえば、タバコが彼女を殺したみたいなもんだ。
③ look up : 文字通り「見上げる」の意味です。
Dad looked up from his paper and smiled. パパは新聞から顔を上げ微笑んだ。
look up : 目的語が付き SVO 型になるとどういう意味になるでしょうか！
He looked up the word in his dictionary. 彼はその単語を辞書で調べた。
④ look into : look up より「調べる」度合いが強まります。
Police are looking into the disappearance of two children.警察が2人の子供の行方不明事件を調べている（捜査中である）。
⑤ look up : 目的語が人になると色々と使い道が増えます！
Don’t forget to look me up when you come to Tokyo. 東京へ来るときは必ず顔を見せてくれよ！
⑥ look up とlook down : 「尊敬する respect」「軽蔑する dispise」という意味です。

⑦ look for : 受験英語でもお馴染みの「なくしたものを探す try to find 」ですが！

⑧ look forward to : これも受験英語ですが、メール等でもよく使います。
My mother says she’s looking forward to meeting you.母があなたに会えることを楽しみにしています。
⑨ look in : 短い訪問 to make a short visit の意味もあり次のように使えます。
I promised to look in on my Dad and see if he’s feeling better.
父が気分が良いようだったら見舞いに行くよと約束した。
⑩ look out : 「外を見る」の他「見つけ出す」や「探し出す」「気をつける」という意味でも使えます。

My Japanese has been going well. I have learned so much from the NHK World app. I am currently on lesson 21 (nejuichi). I was wondering when we would be able to Skype so I can tell you some of my counting and phrases in person. Would 10 (juji) A.M. your time be a good time next Thursday?
I have learned a lot of sound words in Japanese like Kira Kira, which means glittering, or Gotam Gotum, which is a train sound. I have continued to watch Dragon Ball in Japanese too. My pronunciation of Japanese words has improved also.
Basketball has been going well also. Our offense is getting good, but our defense is really strong! Our first tournament is this coming weekend at Brooklyn Center. We have had fewer practices this past couple of weeks, but hopefully we’ll get a few more practices in before the tournament.
