菅総理が訪米してバイデン大統領と会談、首脳会談後、発表された共同声明において、中国が軍事的圧力を強める現状を踏まえ、尖閣諸島問題、台湾問題、新疆ウイグル自治区の人権問題等に言及、日米両国が中国と対峙する姿勢を鮮明に打ちだしました。日本語と英語のテキストはホワイトハウスと日本外務省の web サイトで読むことができます。

1 自由、民主主義、人権、法の支配、国際法、多国間主義、自由で公正な経済秩序を含む普遍的価値及び共通の原則に対するコミットメントが両国を結び付けている。Commitments to universal values and common principles, including freedom, democracy, human rights, the rule of law, international law, multilateralism, and a free and fair economic order, unite us.

2 日本は同盟及び地域の安全保障を一層強化するために自らの防衛力を強化することを決意した。米国は、核を含むあらゆる種類の米国の能力を用いた日米安全保障条約の下での日本の防衛に対する揺るぎない支援を改めて表明した。米国はまた、日米安全保障条約第５条が尖閣諸島に適用されることを再確認した。Japan resolved to bolster its own national defense capabilities to further strengthen the Alliance and regional security. The United States restated its unwavering support for Japan’s defense under the U.S.-Japan Treaty of Mutual Cooperation and Security, using its full range of capabilities, including nuclear. It also reaffirmed the fact that Article V of the Treaty applies to the Senkaku Islands.

3 日米両国は、普遍的価値及び共通の原則に基づき、引き続き連携していく。日米両国はまた、地域の平和及び安定を維持するための抑止の重要性も認識する。日米両国は、東シナ海におけるあらゆる一方的な現状変更の試みに反対する。We will continue to work with each other based on universal values and common principles. We also recognize the importance of deterrence to maintain peace and stability in the region. We oppose any unilateral attempts to change the status quo in the East China Sea.

4 日米両国は、台湾海峡の平和と安定の重要性を強調するとともに、両岸問題の平和的解決を促す。日米両国は、香港及び新疆ウイグル自治区における人権状況への深刻な懸念を共有する。We underscore the importance of peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait and encourage the peaceful resolution of cross-Strait issues. We share serious concerns regarding the human rights situations in Hong Kong and the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.
