VOA の新しい Let’s Learn English シリーズ Level 2 の lesson 19 Movie Night です。文法の授業とは一味違う間接疑問文を使った丁寧な表現の復習をします！

Anna loves movies! And Pete has invited her to see one with him. But is that a good idea? 面白い動画ですので楽しみながら復習できます。つまり、① Can/Could you tell me… ② Would/Do you mind… ③ Would it be possible… ④ Do you know… などです。

1 Where is your movie theater? → Can you tell me how to get to your movie theater. ¿Me puede decir cómo llegar a su sala de cine? *日本語では「映画館へはどう行けばいいですか？」ですが、丁寧さが違います。

2 Would you mind opening that a little bit more quietly? → ¿Te importaría abrir eso un poco más en silencio? *スペイン語では可能法で婉曲さや丁寧さが出ます。「〜しても差し支えないでしょうか」くらい丁寧な表現が、importaría にあります。

3 Would you mind being more quiet? → ¿Te importaría estar más tranquilo? *スペイン語では、estar más tranquilo つまり、「もう少し静かにすること」が「君にとって重要ですか？」という表現になります。

4 Excuse me,would you mind turning down your phone light?→ Disculpe, ¿le importaría apagar la luz del teléfono?

5 Excuse me, would you mind lending me your phone light for a minute?→ Disculpe, ¿le importaría prestarme la luz de su teléfono por un minuto?

6 Would you mind coming with me? → ¿Te importaría venir conmigo? *スペイン語の le か te は二人の親密度によって使い分けます。

これだけ練習すれば Would you mind 〜ing はもう大丈夫ですね！是非次の VOAも一緒に見て研究してみてください。
